The ELC was established in 1997 by Hugh and Judy MacDermot with the aim of offering top quality courses in a friendly and professional atmosphere and in beautiful surroundings. The school is situated in a beautiful Georgian building which has been carefully adapted for use as a school. The building is in the heart of the historic city of York only 5 minutes from some of England's most famous sites.
Although
the ELC has grown considerably since the opening, it is happily
still a small
school
with a famously friendly touch. Hugh and Judy are both
actively involved with the day-to-day running (100) of the
Centre to ensure
that everything
runs smoothly. You will find their office door constantly
open – an
invitation for students to drop in to ask questions, discuss
their course or simply to have a chat!
